I found one in a used car we got (SWEET story) and wondered what it was. I asked my confrimation "teacher" and she wasn't sure either. All I knew was that it was the BVM. He told me the reason the bottom section looks like silver, is the fact that he couldn't shut the scanner door all the way. So, it's a lighting issue.
