Katholikos Posted April 26, 2004 Share Posted April 26, 2004
My former scoutmaster, when he found out I was going to the seminary, said "Don't be like all those other priests." When someone asked him what he meant, he replied "What do you think I mean? Its all over the news." If ignorance is bliss, some people must be pretty happy. the lumberjack Posted April 26, 2004 Share Posted April 26, 2004
Hi Lumberjack; The fastest way to be accepted and hailed there is to be as nasty and insulting as you can, think up the rudest thing you can possibly say to a Catholic and you're in tight .. mind you, that only goes one way, if you're Catholic you have to watch your manners or be banned. .. for instance, large or any pictures was not tolerated there until Bruce showed up, but he chose the nastiest pictures he could find and so it was overlooked. Peace of Christ, Ken
I'm not sure of that, as I've not gone over there too much... I'm here playing nice with you loverly folks. and as far as the pics DO go, what can you say about them? its catholics doing what catholics do, isn't it? and why SHOULDN'T we see that? the lumberjack Posted April 26, 2004 Share Posted April 26, 2004 I didn't know that...sorry. but hey, he must have shown them something pretty blunt if they allow it now. and all the pics they have up...are they not of Catholic things? and as far as the pics DO go, what can you say about them? its catholics doing what catholics do, isn't it? and why SHOULDN'T we see that? the lumberjack Posted April 26, 2004 Share Posted April 26, 2004 well, bruce commends willguy for even coming over... and he's extending a VERY warm welcome to ironmonk and Katholikos to come on over and join, if for nothing else, just THIS TOPIC he says you guys would enjoy it... Thy Geekdom Come Posted April 26, 2004 Share Posted April 26, 2004
Bruce just wrote me and asked me to invite you all over to the message board. the Board for Former Catholics...BY former Catholics he said if you guys REALLY want to defend the Catholic Church, to come on over, and have it out.
You may extend to Bruce my sincere apologies for not attending. As only a few of you know, I used to be a major apologist for another site, long before I came to phatmass. I was anti-Protestant to the extreme and never acted charitably. It was all about debate techniques and shooting out Bible verses. Since my time on Phatmass and in seminary, I have only begun to become charitable, but nonetheless, I feel whatever little change has occurred. Could I go to that board and win debates? Yes. But that would be all to easy. It's not about winning debates, it's about making friends and bringing everyone closer together in Christ-that's ecumenism. It's about coming together in Christian unity...that's as far as I'll take it...God works whatever He wills from there. Could I go to that board and win debates? Yes, but I've become rather comfortable with charity and I'd rather not slip into another of the devil's traps. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
KennC Posted April 26, 2004 Share Posted April 26, 2004 Hi LJ;
its catholics doing what catholics do, isn't it? and why SHOULDN'T we see that?
no worries here, .. just cute how the rules are set up to advance an agenda. Peace of Christ, Ken Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
the lumberjack Posted April 26, 2004 Share Posted April 26, 2004 if you have pics of Christian...not mormon, or JW or any other cultist group...if you have pics that would depict something TOTALLY against the word of God, I'm SURE that they would want to see them... I myself am ALWAYS seeking more wisdom from God and a good rebuking from a brother or sister in Christ. I can't say why they HAD the rules one way, then not...but looking at the pics...thats some pretty hard evidence against the case of the Catholic Church. its okay that you don't concur... God bless. Justified Saint Posted April 26, 2004 Share Posted April 26, 2004 context context context It is like posting pictures of priests with Hitler or something like that (which happens all the time), if you don't have context then you can totally distort what is being portrayed. The point being, pictures can just as easily be distorted as words. As I recall too, despite Bruce's deluge of cut and paste items - he rarely provides any kind of source material. MrsFrozen Posted April 26, 2004 Share Posted April 26, 2004 Boy, Lumberjack, I can't believe you're even commenting on lack of charity! Just these few posts I've read on this thread seem to be dripping with nastiness and sarcasm. Remember that Christ never taught to hate anyone, and you certainly don't seem to be acting in love! God bless. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
i never said I cared if anyone was charitable or uncharitable towards me...react how you will...I'll be okay, really. no biting or sarcasm intended...at least not in this one...at least not yet. be charitable, thats fine, show love, I like it. but I won't just stand by as the poster boy heretic protestant and be assymilated. God bless. oh and ps. unless you have photoshop pro or some other kind of editing program...its quite hard to misconstrue a picture. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Justified Saint Posted April 26, 2004 Share Posted April 26, 2004 MrsFrozen was no doubt wondering because whatever pretensions you had about being "objective" and "learning" about Catholicism are betrayed by your often sarcastic and virulent posts. Perhaps in ignorance we have held you up to that standard of charity - when now it has become clear that you are hardly concerned with charity and hearing what others have to say.
