This is most excellent, DameAgnes -- you have made me a very happy camper, indeed! :D

I've seen the nun dolls before and loved them. Very impressed by the details in each doll's habit.

Thank you for posting these links!

Oh my gosh...I have a confession to make. I have to tell you I LOVE LOVE LOVE the coronets. I am convinced this love is in part <wink wink> why I have not been chosen to form a community.

Of course then again my favorite scene in the movie My Fair Lady is Audrey Hepburn at Ascot...If I had the opportunity, I'd give her a run for her money where that hat is concerned.....and once, long ago in what seems now another lifetime, I actually paid WAY more for a hat than I did for an entire outfit I was wearing to a formal affair.

What can I say...

When I was a kid and my mom made habits, she always made a copy for my Barbie. Sometimes they ended up on my GIJoe instead. I have 5 older brothers, so my hand-me-down toys were usually of the masculine variety.

Barbie habits!!! That must have been so fun!

Reminds me of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini -- she would make little habits for her dolls and send them on mission to China. :)

She did? I love it because its little things like that that draws me to particular saints. Speaking of which you know what would be awesome? Saint barbie dolls!:saint: Instead of GI Joe for the boys you could have St Ignatius of Loyola (comes with removable cast) and any of the other guys who were in the military. For girls one could be a Teresa of Avila doll that comes with a build your own convent construction set.

Then you *MUST* read "A Bedside Book of Saints" - it is full of endearing stories like that, some of them very funny! :)

I would LOVE saint dolls like that!!!

I mean... just imagine the possibilities!

Maybe even a Padre Pio doll that bleeds from the stigmata, a Philip Neri doll that has an expandable chest (since his heart became enlarged and broke some of his ribs all because of his great love for God), etc, etc!!!

I used to have a JPII doll that two of my friends bought for me one Christmas. Loved him. He stayed in the box, next to a huge poster of JPII and a picture of Mary and my original Marian Consecration. :D Kind of like a mini-shrine.

I'd totally want the Teresa of Avila doll complete with the "Build Your Own Convent" set! Hahahaha!! Gives new purpose to Lincoln Logs and stone-colored leggos.

I think I would like that book very much! Anything that helps me get to know the saints as being "just like me/you" or at least somewhat "normal" is always a good thing. Sometimes I find it too easy to get overwhelmed by their outstanding saintliness, you know? Usually then my melancholic side comes out and I get all... melancholic. :P Hahaha!

When my boys played with GIJoes, I made a set of Franciscan monk robes for them. That seems like a very long time ago now. Almost 20 years I guess.

Oh my gooooodness! This makes me want to have babies and form them into little saint-loving future-saints.

I'll just have to pass this link along to my (wonderfully Catholic) friends that are called to Holy Matrimony and pray for them and their future children..

I want these dolls:
