Hananiah
Not the NAB, though. The commentary is secularism posing as Catholicism. Get either the Ignatius Bible (RSV-CE) or the Jerusalem (not the New Jerusalem) Bible.
mulls
Mulls: if you do choose to get your grandma a bible, make sure it is a Catholic bible. It should have an Imprimateur on the first few pages.
nahh
ironmonk
nahh
All the other bibles (non-Catholic) took books out. Only the Catholic bibles have the OT that Christ used. I think the NAB is great. I haven't seen anything in it that is bad. M.SIGGA
Hi Mulls, I think it's a great idea to get your Grandma a Bible and it would also be really really cool if you also prayed with her too because we need to spread Christ's Light everywhere we go! One of my "super devout" grandmothers oddly enough questioned me too in the past month. She had a lot of questions about the same sort of stuff she basically has accepted since she was a child, and I could have given her a long extensive theological response that she probably wouldn't really understand, but instead I told her to pray, have faith, and believe. In my opinion it is better for a sick 80 year old person to recieve a message that may rekindle the "faith of a child" because that has given me so much peace lately, anyway... and I'm really really really serious about this too (not meant to be a cheesy plug)... I think along with it you should get her a copy of the book Story of a Soul, by St. Therese de Lisieux, especially because she is an older Catholic who could be potentially be questioning her Christianity, like existence of God, Christ's humanity/divinity, etc... The book largly touches on her struggle with doubt and dispair and depression and unbelief. It's amazingly honest and human, and I promise it will put a smile on her face and probably yours too . It seriously changed my life at a point when all I needed to know that God is Love and Christ loves us more than we can ever imagine. It will also touch on points of the Catholic faith that she will probably enjoy that many younger Catholics can't totally relate too. Heck I'll send you a copy for free! (message me) If it isn't to hard to step outside yourself to help an old Catholic lady, I would also say to tell her to visit the Blessed Sacrament in adoration and to exercise the Sacraments and to pray, pray, pray! and keep faith. God Bless and I hope everything is chill Keep us updated!
