Dreams....about

I think many of our young PMers are still in high school. Don't be discouraged by the behavior of boys in H.S. Someday they are going to grow up, and some of them will grow into deeply committed Catholics who know how to be respectful, listen, and sacrifice to support a family.

You might be in for a wait, but I wouldn't join the convent just yet. God can work wonders for you, but he does his miracles in his own time.

In the meanwhile, I would recommend making a list of qualities you want in a husband. Be specific. Make the list a long one. When you have an idea of what you want, pray over the list to Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, and to St. Raphael. And give God time. If you are in High School, I would give God the benefit of the doubt. He will answer all your prayers. But in His own time. (And not before you are ready).
There are a lot of good Catholic young people planning and dreaming of a nice Catholic family. They're all over. I have a couple of nice young Catholics hanging out in my house all the time (and I would be very happy if they married and started their own nice Catholic family... :) )

I wonder though, how difficult it is for young women to find one since many good men enter the priesthood, thus lowering the numbers of elegible bachelors. Maybe that's why some of them settle for good Christian men of other faiths or, heaven fobid, give up on the faith issue altogether...
That is what I was thinking. Most the guys I know are looking at the priesthood so may not be all that marriable after a while. You just need to mess us up with posts like this so we stop looking at the priesthood ( :rolling: jk I don't think you are going to mess up anyone). But I do think men entering the priesthood reduces the number of Catholic "knights."

I respectfully disagree. There are 50,000 priests in the U.S. There are 25,000,000 Catholics. You do the math. ;)
If you want to keep dreaming about your perfect Catholic knight coming to rescue you, VeraMaria, immaculata and others, go ahead.

I was just being realistic.

Go ahead and be optimistic then, you are young.

Don't come crying to me when you find reality.
ok, honestly ashley, do you seriously have nothing else better to do with your time than put down the hopes and dreams of others? How low do you feel like you have to stoop so that you can feel better about yourself? i feel sorry for you if you feel like you have to resort to being uncharitable to feel that way.

and btw, think about it this way, what if the tables were turned and it was you? what if it was your dreams that we were stepping on? Certainly, if you are a christian and you have a relationship with Jesus as you claim, don't you have a simular ideal husband, family, ect. as well? Aside from stating a specific christian faith, i imagine it wouldn't be too different. of course, you haven't stated what you are looking for so i have no idea, but still i'm positive no one would kick that in your face like you did in this post. i know i certainly wouldn't have. seriously ashley, if you are going to post anything, show some respect and show some love.

peace
I feel so blessed to have a husband that is my best friend, one that truly understands me, one that will slap my hand away from the cookie jar during Lent, one that will fast and abstain with me, one that will confide in me, one that I can go to Confession with.
Have any of you ever tries to keep a pregnant lady out of the cookie jar? Attempt at your own risk. ;)
I don't like math.... but that is 50,000 good Catholic men. LOL.
I'm not sure I got my numbers right, and I am by no means a statistician. (I am think I dramatically underestimated the number of Catholics, which would make your predicament even better). If my numbers are right, it would mean that there are 2499 Catholics to every priest. As it is, there are probably more. For some reason I was thinking there was something like 80,000,000 Catholics in the States, which would mean there would be 7999 Catholics to every priest. (I welcome corrections from everybody).

Regardless, I think you can find your husband with these odds. One thing you hae to remember, is that not everybody who goes to seminary is going to come out a priest. Many men go to seminary and realize that they are NOT called to be priests.

My main concern is that the religious life shouldn't be a "plan B." God will provide a good and holy husband if that is in your cards. But not before you're ready.

Ok, let's keep it real. God is not a statistician. God doesn't have "odds." It doesn't matter if there are ten good Catholic men in the world, God has the ability to bring "the one" right to you. This is the thought that keeps me going. It may not seem like there are any guys worth waiting for, but I know there is at least one, and no matter where he is, God will bring him to me when the timing is right. :D
