A negative point for saying the rating system is lame is rather ironic.

I've gotten negatives for popcorn smileys.

Historians will look back with wonder over the senselessness of it all.

twice so far. i wasnt too impressed with the vatican ninjas the first time, dispatched them fairly quickly, but the second batch were a bit tougher. The holy water dipped Cross-bows were a little cheap i think, stung pretty good, but i survived. not looking forward to the next battle, stocking up my arsenal :P

A U-haul eh? that might have been helpful...

ive been here for more than 3....

Yeah. It's commonplace to send out the grunts first. You'll prove yourself worthy for the specialists at some point :hehe:

They send the lame squads first. They're just grunts- we're better off without them anyway.

Meh, what he said.

You know they send the nuns to finish off the tough ones... You're a done deal at that point. No escape. :ninja:

Ninja nuns are pretty tough. I'm pretty sure there was one above them, but I could be wrong.

The ninjacardinals.

They're all secretly named cardinals. They live and work in the diocese of Atlantis until they're sent on missions.

Before all us old fogies took over? :smokey:

I think you're looking at the past through rose-colored glasses. The fights now are nothing compared to those of several years ago! When I came on, in '04, there was a lot more "Traddie vs. Novus Ordo" type fights and stuff.

It gets heated every election season. I remember the '04 Bush vs. Kerry election season being particularly heated. If anything, there seems to be less explicitly partisan political debate these days.

Btw, threads like this one (about how phatmass has changed for the worse) seem to cyclically pop up every so many months.

Yes? No? For better? For worse?

Sometimes I feel it's becoming more like a regular, argumentative forum and lost that supportive and personal spirit that characterized it. Just wanted to see if it's just me..

forgive me, i haven't read the other responses. so if i am repeating anyone, please ignore me.

that being said, this happens every year in Lent...someone stating that phatmass is changed. i think it's just because people are grumpy during Lent.

I don't want PM to be a bunch of people just like me, but I don't think it's as dynamic nor that the Catholics are as devout as they once were (I notice that in myself, too, sadly). I think the phorum was much better when people had a sense of humor and stronger friendships here. I think of Jacob, VeraMaria, Voiciblanche, PhatCatholic, and so many others who just aren't around. We used to stay up during the summer and chat into the we hours of the morning. We used to sing together over paltalk and try to lift one another up in prayer. We used to be silly. Now we're just so darn serious I think we've lost ourselves.

i think if you think things have changed for the worse, you must look at yourself to see how you contribute to that...

there's always a lot of observing what the rest of us do, and finger pointing, when in fact, we can make phatmass a better place by our own actions and words...

change for the better begins with the individual...

well said. :)

Without Phatmass my faith life would be devastatingly lonely. :grouphug:

yes, and thank you for saying that. this weekend, i really struggled at Mass, but I kept thinking (because of all of you in phatmassland) "I know things are better somewhere. i know people appreciate a holy Mass somewhere."

I remember things being a bit tense some months ago too.

Directly after the little Muslim dialogue episode, if I remember correctly. Tempers stayed high for a while.
