So in this post are you saying that people with SSA are confused or is it an actual physiological disorder? Please dont be offended I pose this as a legitimate question. Because Ive heard the argument that SSA is a physiological disorder and yet there is the other argument that it is not and that the person may be confused as you say.

I am saying that such a person is spiritually confused, and that prayer is the proper response, both by the confused person, and by those who are his friends. No one should make a disordered passion a personal identifying quality.

Finally, my post, which is quoted above, was simply a reference back to an earlier post I made in this thread (i.e., [url="http://www.phatmass.com/phorum/index.php?showtopic=103105&view=findpost&p=2064333"]post #46[/url]), where I expressed the idea that prayer is called for in situations of this kind, because it is by grace that a man can overcome disordered thoughts and passions.

What do you mean by spiritually confused? What do you mean by sexually confused? Confusion generally means to not know or to be unsure, I don't think the word really applies to homosexuals who know they're attracted to the same sex.

I think he means confused in the sense that one doesn't necessarily know the right choice from the wrong one.

Intellectually the person may have no confusion over what his or her present desires or attractions are.

In the long run spiritually, the Catholic mindset would be that the person (as an entire body-soul composite, not an intellectual being) has become confused as to what desires and emotions are proper to experiences. This could also be referred to as a disordered passion.

The Catholic mindset is that every person is ordered to the good, and that homosexual tendencies are objectively disordered, that is they are ordered to that which is evil [b]objectively[/b] (subjectively it is the persons choice whether to turn the tendencies into actualized evils. In other words: to act on the tendency). A homosexual tendency that is disordered could also be phrased as a tendency that is confused. The person is objectively ordered towards that which is good, however his [b]passions or desires are objectively ordered to that which is evil and are therefore confused as to what is good and what is evil[/b] (notice it is his passions that are confused, not necessarily the intellect). His entire person has an objective desire towards the good, but his passions are desiring the evil.

Really the same can be said of any sinful desire, however it is more inherent with deep rooted tendencies. A desire to watch pornography also shows spiritual and sexual confusion in the person as the [b]passions or desires of the person are confusing the good of sexual pleasure with the evil of pornography.[/b]

I think that last bold sentence really hits the heart of what I'm trying to say.
