Hassan Offends Deh Gays

Not really. I may have offended a program that claims to be an advocate for gay students though. It's called 'Safe Zone'. The idea is that you sign up for a seminar offered about monthly. After you sit through four hours of learning about the differences between gay, bisexual, qwerty, pansexual et cetera and other poorly defined sexual categories and learning how to hold the correct attitude towards various matters the program considers important you get a bright, rainbow colored sign stating that "X individual is a safe person to talk about regarding gay, bisexual, blah blah blah issues."

I find this whole idea stupid.

The idea that a four hour seminar can determine if an individual is compassionate and empathetic enough to trust with pouring out your deepest concerns to strikes me as asinine. I also just find it presumptuous. As though everyone who hasn't been through the dopey program operates on a lower moral plane than those who are safe zone trained.

Anyway, I decided to signal that I was compassionate and empathetic towards those who struggle with their sexuality in a hostile nation, but wished to admit that given that I had not been through the rigors of the seminar any random gay student seeking a stranger to pour their heart out to could not be absolutely certain that I am the right stranger to pour out said secrets to.

The solution was to make a sign out of some cardboard.

"WILL'S ROOM

A SAFE ZONE

...?

COME IN AND FIND OUT!"

I also decorated the sign with a smiling sun, rainbow and pot of gold. I also claimed on the sign that there was candy in my room (true) but in a non creepy sense (possibly true).

My RA (resident adviser) came by right as I was finishing it up. I asked him what he thought of it (He is Safe Zone trained and while a friend). He stared at the sign for a few minutes with obvious disapproval on his face, "I don't know...I mean it almost seems like you're making fun of the program".

Well no snap I'm making fun of the program.

For a little while I hung it around my bed to accommodate. But I was sitting on our couch a few minutes ago and decided that it really was a funny sign and the world deserved to see it.

So now it's taped to my door.

THE END!

Sounds like something I would have done back in the day.
I'm sure the brownshirts of political stupidity will soon be breathing down your neck.

what's qwerty and pansexual?

The former's a keyboard. The latter's yet another idiotic term to make people feel important.

I hate it when gays make a big deal about being gay. There's a "rainbow room" at my uni. I went yesterday, had a look around, a bit of a giggle and then left.

Pansexual means you cannot be trusted to be left alone in another person's kitchen.
