Right....

The Vatican had close ties to Hitler and Nazism, profiting greatly from it. They willingly gave Rome's Jews into their hands for money and power. The Vatican's cardinals and bishops entertained Nazi officers. They refused to aid the Jews. They turned a blind eye to the Holocaust.

Of course they aren' responsible...???

I must be missing something here, because true Christians were aiding the Jews (Christian churches, etc) while the Catholics ignored them and profited from delivering them to a certain death.
Ashley,
Peace be with you! I like the example the Pope Blessed John XXIII gave. He himself wrote baptismal certificates for Jews claiming that they were Catholic, just to save their lives. (He was an archbishop at the time).

I've heard numbers of between 5 and 6 millions Catholics died in the holocaust. (Most people ignore those numbers). The Pope and other priests decided not to speak out because every time someone did, the persecution became more strict.

I leave you with this story, the story of St. Maximilian Kolbe, Martyr of Charity.

Max Kolbe was a Franciscan priest who was eventually arrested and put into Auschwitz. One day a prisoner escaped so they had the entire camp stand at attention for the day. At the end, they chose 10 random people to die in isolation for the one prisoner's escape. A man, who I believe was a Jew, was chosen who had a family, and began to plead for his life. Max Kolbe stood up and asked the guards to take him instead. Miraculously they did, and so he was put into isolation. Well, eventually the guards poisoned him (after 2 weeks), but he died loving his enemies.

That man Maximilian saved? He lived.

Ashley, the truth is that The Catholic Church is not the only Christian group that were involved in inquisitions, other Christian groups have also conducted their own, in many cases executing Catholics, you just don't hear about it.

You shouldn't just accept everything you hear from one side of the story, because in some cases it may be extremely biased, false propoganda or sensationalised.

Good. Maybe then you will let it go, too. You can't forgive and then hold a grudge. it doesn't work that way!

Ashley, please go here and listen to one of my songs... I wrote it a while back, for this exact reason!!!!

It is called "Assisi Underground" - The spoken words (from a true story) are about protecting Jews during their persecution in Italy during WWII.

It is track #4 on the page at this link.....

No I am still here.

I was just stating what history plainly shows.

One more thing: If you are going to ask me to practice charity practice it yourself.

One thing that is always there at the Baptist Board and is lacking here and loving acceptance of you no matter what your beliefs are.

I do say sorry. But your postion seems to lack base. I agree with you stating what you know.

"I was just stating what history plainly shows."

Where? I don't even think Zinn would agree.

You're willing to forgive us, yet you want us to "Die, Catholics, die?" That seems a bit contradictory, my dear.

First of all, I don't remember any of that. Secondly, what are you saying? Catholics are Christians, a Christian Church, the first Christian Church.
