Cherie
This was the first time I EVER tuned in to watch Oprah. I know these Sisters very well, as I almost entered their community in 2003. I think they did a fantastic job, and told them so! Yay for the DSMME!!!

tinytherese
If only she would donate at least some of her fortune to the community or to women wanting to get out of debt to join a community.

[/quote] At one point in my discernment, my mother told me, "You should write Oprah and ask her to donate to help you pay off your student loans!" For some reason... I just don't think she'd go for it. Then again, the DSMME did give her a rosary. Maybe some charitable Catholic-graces rubbed off.

tinytherese
I mean seriously, sometimes she just wastes money. "There's a set of car keys for everyone under their seat to a new car." At least she uses her money sometimes to help people who actually need it.
IgnatiusofLoyola
Can I ask a question that shows how little I know about religious orders? BTW--I thought the Sisters came across very well on Ophrah--articulate, and "real" people, not living in a spirtual fantasyland--and Ophrah handled it very well. But, I noticed one of the Sisters was wearing braces on her teeth. Is it safe to assume that the Sister has braces for a medical reason, such as to correct some physical problem with her jaw, spacing of her teeth, or prevention of future problems? I normally associate wearing braces with wanting to have straight teeth so you look better, but this doesn't fit well with a Sister having left worldly things. It could be viewed as similar to a nun wearing make-up. I'll give the Sister the benefit of the doubt, because I assume her Superiors wouldn't have allowed braces for vanity reasons, much less allowed her to go on TV as a representative of the order if vanity was an issue for her.
