Chris Johnson is hilariously critical of liberal Anglicanism. I enjoy reading his blog a lot. :D
I guess you'd call him a high church Anglican, but he's quite disillusioned with pretty much everything about it.

I read a blog post about it.

For the record, the presiding "bishop" is much worse. :P

Looking past the colored vestments, it also stands out to me that the women priests are wearing earrings. If they're taking the role of a priest, having earrings seems to cater to one's vanity in a way that it shouldn't.

Why are women not referred to as "priestesses?"
Yeah!

The "Episcopal Church" uses the same invalid ordination rite that the "Anglican Church" uses. Besides, the "bishops" of the "Episcopal Church" trace their apostolic succession through invalidly ordained Anglican "bishops".
They probably can't trace anything. When Henry left the Church the ordination rite was changed as to clear the remaining "romanism" away which invalidated the ritual. The only way they can be valid is to trace to an Old Catholic Church.

Do you think he will eventually become a Roman Catholic?

Maybe they prefer being called "priests" because they think it's true "equality"? (Being called "priestesses" would obviously make them inferior to their male-counterparts... :twitch: )

:ohno:

It's hard to say. He alludes to his faith position once in a while. He's mentioned that he has theological differences with the Catholic Church, but I've never read about what they are. He shows nothing but respect for orthodox Catholicism though, especially Pope Benedict. He loves to compare Benedict to Arch"bishop" Williams.
Every time he voices a strong opinion, it's perfectly in harmony with the Church.

I suppose it depends on their type of feminism. I know of one college where the students refuse to spell women in the usual way because it comes from the word man. So they spell it, "womyn." There are also those who like the idea of making a feminine version of some words.

"Womyn" -- blaaaaaghhh! :twitch:

I've seen that before.. makes me want to convulse. :annoyed:

Why must even the rules of spelling bend to one's feminist agenda??? Whyyy?

Does it make them feel better? Seeing "womyn" just makes me think of "Wyoming".

Or even seeing "herstory". Someone, please, give us a "vomit" emoticon.

Sigh. :ohno:

There's a movie called PCU -- Politically Correct University. It makes fun of all the different groups you'd find on campus, and the campus feminists call themselves, "womynists." Cause "feminists" wasn't feministy enough.

Now that's just silly. I guess those women don't subscribe to the belief that Eve was created by God from Adam's rib.

I think it was "pins and needles"...

Certainly a fun movie, although it sort of made it out to be that having any sort of values was dumb. And that reefer and George Clinton makes everything better.

Don't knock the Episcopalians. I go to an Episcopalian church at the behest of my Protestant father, and they are some of the nicest people I have met. They are also about 90% Catholic, as evidenced by their mass-like services.
