That's funny. I also forgot it was Friday. I got out of class early and met my parents at McDonalds. My mom bought me a Chicken Buscuit with a coupon. The road to hell may also be paved with delicious Southern Style Chicken Biscuits.

I know. And we're failing left and right. We should wear ashes and sackcloth.

It's a lot easier to keep abstinence when there are McDonald's advertisements for Fillet of Fish.

So wait....it's a mortal sin to eat fish on Fridays, even before Lent?

No, I believe the US has an indult (one of many) which abrogates the yearlong Friday requirement to abstain from meat. Some people voluntarily conform to the tradition of the Church even though it isn't an official obligation. For me its a way of viewing every Friday as a smaller Good Friday which emphasizes the Triduumesque opportunity of each weekend. Great opportunity to deny myself something.

Rexi could always go to the hospital and have his stomach pumped.

Keep some Ipecac in an emergency kit just in case one of those turkey paninis ends up in your stomach.

Resurrexi, we have our days. It happen to me one year during lent. All that I remember is that Thursday night, I made a PBJ. Then when I was having pizza, I thought about Friday and Lent. How funny.

i believe we are obligated to some type of Friday penance, though...it's just that we don't necessarily have to make it abstinence of meat...

 It isn't even Lent yet!

Abstinence is required on all Fridays of the year for members of the Latin Church; however, in the United States, on Fridays outside of Lent one may replace abstinence with another form of penance.

Dude I've done that so many times. Just abstain from meat for the rest of the day. A little rosary-praying never hurts either! :D

I happily remembered today! Tofu stir fry tonight.

Yes I'm glad the priests are catechizing laity about this. It has been working swimmingly to foster a penitential faith in the last 20 yrs...
