Let me know if you still have questions on it. In short, I think many non-Catholics view this process as "the Church putting someone in Heaven." In fact Canonization of a Saint doesn't make a Saint a Saint. It only declares a Saint a Saint. The whole process is determining if the person is already a Saint (i.e. in Heaven). So it isn't like the Church causes the person to go to heaven when they make the pronouncement. When there is proof that the person is in Heaven already, then the Church can declare this a fact. Question: The Passover was celebrated only once a year. Why is it now celebrated daily in the Catholic Church? What is the best way you have ever heard the Real Presence of the Eucharist explained?
