C'est bizzare, but cool. I think you should send a shipment to Canada. :)

Somehow I don't think customs would approve. :topsy:

I'm eating one right now -- just to check and see if her description is accurate. And it is! Except this is a Honeyheart and it has a little taste of honey too.

Maybe I could mail some good ones to you if you don't live too far away. I'm in Southern California.

That's how I'd describe it. But check out this blog: Food Blogga

She writes "What is a Cherimoya? Perhaps the Greatest Fruit on the Planet."

"What does a cherimoya taste like? A perfectly ripe cherimoya is an intoxicating combination of tropical flavors like bananas, coconut, strawberries, and mangoes. Some people also taste pineapple and papayas. Don't think one fruit could possibly have all of those ambrosial flavors? Then try one to see for yourself."

Or you were shaking his daddy's tree to get more of the fruit down....

Anyway, I don't think I've ever seen them.

I saw a pomegranit in the shop, what are they like? They were imported from America and I usually make a point to buy local produce, but they look strange, and Conan used to eat them.

Inside they actually look like red glass rosaries.

There are seeds that are many-sided bead-like pockets of juice (the way orange pieces are basically pockets of juice) and in between the seeds is light yellow styrofoamlike thing that you don't eat. The fruit is kind of sweet-tart tasting. The juice probably stains stuff. Basically they are quite messy and dangerous to eat, so pick a good time, get a pile of napkins and a bowl, and cut it in half and then just pull the seeds out with your fingers and eat 'em.

Some posh magazines suggest putting the seeds in salads or ice cream. To me just getting into the pomegranate is a bit too much work to also make a salad to put it in. They are definitely tasty though, and so beautiful! Buy one once for the experience.

Here is a fun link with some musings on symbolism and how to eat the darn things (Protestant so more OT than NT): http://scriptoriumblogorium.blogspot.com/2009/11/pomegranate-symbolism.html

Thy Geekdom Come

If this is what I'm thinking of, I actually had some ice cream in this flavor while I was at the seminary. We all laughed because we were eating it in the seminary and it was an aphrodisiac.
