OraProMe
Does the indult for communion in the hand only apply to the Novus Ordo or to any Catholic liturgy in the Latin rite? I thought there were different rules for the EF but I can't imagine these priests giving communion out like that if it were prohibited. AccountDeleted
Wow - I am shocked at that. But then they don't kneel down either. At our Mass, we all kneel to receive, and everybody receives on the tongue. I don't know the rules though for an EF - it will be interesting to hear from the experts here. Ora et Labora
I don't exactly know what the rules are either. I went to a Tridentine Mass for over 5 years and most automatically received on the tongue. But I HAVE seen people receive from the hand and the priests went along with it. I receive on the tongue at any Mass.

And I worry about the host dropping when we aren't even kneeling and there is no paten underneath. The whole thing just upsets me. I would prefer never to go to the NO now if I can help it. I saw a Mass that Pope Benedict did on TV - it was NO, but the people all had to kneel on a prie dieu and they received on the tongue - now I could handle that! Hilde
I've only been to one once, and then they all kneeled at the pews, and the priest walked around and put it on their tongues. I think it's a great idea. No walking around, no distractions.

I'd be intimidated by the prospect of Our Lord being dumped on the floor than by what any mere human being thought, felt, or said. You shouldn't be intimidated if they threatened to kill you. This is the Eucharist we're talking about. ~Sternhauser

We all go up to the communion rail and the priest walks along to each person, but he certainly doesn't try to come out to the pews! I don't know how he could reach everyone that way. I don't want Our Lord to fall onto the floor because they don't use a paten and the priest or EMH doesn't know how to put the host on the tongue, and I am standing etc... this seems a lot more dangerous to me than trying to scrape up the few particles left on my hand. But judge away oh just one.

Nihil Obstat
I seem to remember being told that Communion on the Hand is absolutely not permitted in the EF. It's only an indult specific to the OF in certain countries. I may be wrong though.

eagle_eye222001
The EF Mass where I go to, the priest refuses to distribute communion on the hand even if a person attempts to receive as such. I don't know offhand where the citation for it is though...
