Seven77
http://www.tfp.org/slideshow/slideshow/legion-a-film-that-mocks-the-faith-and-leads-to-despair.html Sounds like satan's kind of movie...
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam
It looks really cheesy. I don't know that the protests that website is calling for will even be needed. Most people I have talked to think it looks stupid and don't want to see it not just because the story line looks terrible but that well....everything looks terrible. I think the greatest thing we can do is just not pay to see it. Although I do hear that The Book of Eli is a very religious movie...perhaps we should just send a message with the way we spend our money.
KeenanParkerII
Thanks for the heads up. It didn't look good in the first place, but now I definitely won't go see it. <__<

Saint Therese
I saw the promo and figured what kind of movie it would be. I think protests aren't needed. Just don't go see the movie.
Winchester
They shoot an old lady in that movie. AARP is pretty po'd.
eagle_eye222001
Saw the trailer while watching one of the two football games I saw this season. Looked like a good movie to skip.
Happy_Catholic
Angels with machine guns? That sounds like a comedy! Anyway, I was kinda planning on seeing this, but the more I hear about it the less I wanna see it. Its very expensive to go to the flicks down here. However, what strikes me, is God has in the past spared cities et al because of one or two righteous people, or at least offered to spare them (that whole Sodom thing). So, in this movie, does that mean that every human on the planet is not trying to please God? I know we're all filthy sinners, but the fact we try to please God and do what He commands and accept Jesus, hasn't that always been enough? This movie sounds like a mess. I'll be keeping my $16 thanks.
rade
Thank you for the information. I haven't been active on this forum (phorum :-D) but now I will. I believe that it is important for us to protest. @ veridicus: I agree, but I think that wallet-voting is a passive way of showing that we are not pleased. If we not only boycott the movie (seems to me it would be a sin to watch it) but also inform them of our opinion, it would have greater event. It is not enough to keep silent - people need to know that that movie is bad (and bad for our souls). We should always thy to do more, don't you think? P.S. After SONY made Da Vinci code I decided to boycott every possible Sony product (including Sony Ericsson phones)

That's why The DaVinci Code did so well, despite being boring and pretentious, and The Golden Compass was a bit of a flop in spite of its admittedly rather intriguing plot (I read the books). We protested the DaVinci Code; we just quietly didn't watch The Golden Compass. They may not make a sequel to The Golden Compass now, because it just didn't do well enough. On the other hand, Dan Brown is raking it in from a second movie already.
I must say that your point of view also makes sense, especially since movies (and books) like The Da Vinci code are just vapour which no one remembers, while We (the Church) are here persistent through the ages. And then again, who knows how many people would have believed ridiculous assumptions and "secrets" "revealed" by the book (movie) if many Catholics (Christians) haven't explained why those weren't true. The difference between Pullman's and Brown's books is large, since Golden Compass is SF. I was also reading Pullman's trilogy and stopped at the middle of the second book since I thought that I could spend my time better. I decided to quit in the part he explains how matter created angels. Imagine that, matter creates spiritual beings LOL. (Or maybe I misunderstood it ) I really am not sure which stand is better, but I'm sure that the time will show.

I read it in grade four when I didn't know any better, so I guess in a way I'm lucky that it didn't affect me a lot more. Even then I knew there was something wrong... Though it didn't changed anything, but then that's because I tend to read fiction for their value with its entertainment value and not let anything else disrupt that.
