Veridicus
Why in the Tridentine Missal is the phrase "Mysterium Fidei" included within words of Consecration of the chalice? Why was this phrase removed in Paul VI's Missal?
Theoketos
The phrase is still present, in Latin even, in the Novus Ordo. As to the theological reasoning behind most of the liturgy is way above my pay-grade. BUT, I like to blather on, so... The ordering of the Mass of John XXIII certainly makes more sense, especially when studying it in an academic manner, and was written and developed by saints and theologians over many many years (thus making it often too opaque to the lay man), and most of the Mass of Paul VI was written in committee and thus it seems some time artificial, if more accessible. Perhaps, and the idea is being floated seriously in the right circles amongst the curia, there will be a tertia quid between the two in your little one's life time.
