IrishG8s
Ok I feel like I should totally be exed from the church for asking this question, but, I'm a sinner not a saint (sorry bad pun). I work with some very protestant friends who like to shove bibles down my throat (litterally) and with the Saint Therese movie coming out, I want to explain to them what a saint is. I mean I know, yet don't know. I could get all tenichal but that won't work. please help. Thanks -IG-
Adeodatus
We're all sinners. So no room for doubt there. Saints are sinners who are in heaven now. So a saint is a 'saved sinner'. In a way, we were first saved at our baptism, when we were given sanctifying grace and made friends and children of God. And we are still being saved now, through repentance, confession and God's grace. And we hope to be saved in the end, to enjoy God's Kingdom in heaven. A saint then is someone completely and thoroughly saved, not just through baptism, not just through repentance, but that final salvation as well, that last hurdle of death. PS don't let them shove Bibles down your throat. It's for reading, not eating.
