KeenanParkerII
Glasses are awesome! Always rock the frames. =) My sister tried to de-convert me once.. However, five minutes in she realized she bit off more then she could chew and threw a temper tantrum at me. So I left her a letter calmly stating that I don't want to discuss religion with her unless she can discuss things in a rational and respectful manner. Besides that, not really. We don't have many Mormons or Jehovah's witnesses around here.

Jesus_lol
i have always wondered how people could honestly look at the mormon beliefs (and jehovahs witness, and scientology) and not just see a huge bundle of disjointed crazy? well does the internet and PM count? cause if so i think i win for most times of attempted conversion so far protestantism didnt fix my eyes lol, i to live for the day i can get surgery

Ed Normile
I always sorta wished that I had glasses, just for the looks. I have to say though, I'm really thankful for not actually *needing* them. Just one less thing to carry around and think about. Interestingly, every single other person in my entire family with any particular genetic closeness has corrective lenses.
Be careful what you wish for! I have needed reading glasses for about two years now, what a pain in the posterior, they are always lost, even when they turn up in my shirt, talk about embarrassing. I asked God to suffer some for the sake of others, I get pain in my legs and knees, and in my shoulders. I am a self employed contractor, hard work climbing ladders all day and walking roofs carrying buckets of coatings, pulling 200 foot of 3/4 inch hose filled with bituminous asphalt weighing 12 lbs per gallon, about 30 gals in the hose length. All in all, I got my wish, probably just the old age kicking in, maybe someday I will have to hire someone to do my work for me, but I would hate to have to work for me, I am too demanding of myself, I would doubt anyone could put up with the way I feel work should be done. I often work 14 hour days, and often do not sleep as I ache all night and get up because of it. It is after two right now, I got out of bed after getting a rare 4 hours of solid sleep last night, I then applied driveway coating over about 5000 square feet of blacktop drive in the florida sun, thank God it finally warmed up, I shoveled patch in holes and spread filler wiuth a brush in cracks to start out, returned home at 6:12 this evening, I love the winter as the days are shorter. I do offer my pain up for the benefit of others, I pray the Morning Offering each day on my way to work, I feel this has to be doing some good for someone. ed
BG45
Sure, how many times? Mormons constantly, at work and door to door. Jehovah's Witnesses door to door. Some of my Baptist "friends" tried to convert me back. These insane nutters from a place called the Roman Catholic Church actually managed it, quite fortunately. Some Pagans try from time to time. My cousin's husband tried once, a Baptist minister who refused to discuss anything before 1800. A lot of Pentecostal friends tried back when I was a Baptist. I stopped to talk to some denomination's table in the mall once and they looked so dejected and lonely...and tried to convert me in a two and a half hour marathon Bible session. And of course, militant New Atheists. Edited January 16, 2010 by BG45
Ed Normile
I was almost converted to the metric system once, but then I had an epiphany.... ed
KeenanParkerII
^ Metric is 10x more logical than imperial!
+JMJ+ how is that working out, since you are still in the process of converting?
It's alright. The actual RCIA lessons are somewhat semantic, as I've already spent so much time studying the Church outside of RCIA. And my family knows it is happening.. I used to sneak out of the protestant service and run up to Holy Rosary Cathedral to watch the mass and look at the paintings and stained glass windows. Besides, Catechuminates are "technically" part of the Church by way of their spirit of inquiry, so I consider it almost a done deal.
