I found this picture on a PM nun picture thread. I think it was from an IRL meeting? I called the IRL, and no one seemed to know who they are...
hmmm?

Could it be from a CMSWR meeting instead?

Could it be that they have the sort of large wimple... or it might have a different name... that covers all of the shoulders, and that their main dress is actually blue or black? :detective: A red herring?

I am usually a lurker, but I saw some Sisters on a website that looked similar to these Sisters in the picture. I've never heard of them before.

Very similar, except for the veil. The mystery nuns have white underneath. This sure has been bugging me - I hope someone can find out who they are because I have exhausted all my resources already!

I have never heard of them before. Do you think they have any restrictions on who can enter? Age, sexuality or divorced/widowed? I like their habits.

Katherine

P.S. I don't think they are the same community as in the first photo though because I think the first photo had the nuns in white. But thanks all the same for this great new link.

The ASSP have traditionally been very open about age. I don't know what their policy is on divorces/annulments. Since they recently entered the Roman Catholic Church from the Anglican communion they might need to change some things to satisfy canoncial requirements. I'd give them a call!

Well, thr only way to find out is to call! Luckily, they ARE in Communion. I really like them, too. Perhaps if you call them you can tell us how it went.
Hopefully we can find out who the mystery nuns are, it truly is beginning to drive me mad trying to figure out who they are!

It does look like in some of their pictures that there is a white stripe underneath on their veils, so they may be the same...

I don't think it could be the All Saints Sisters. They were traditional Episcopalian nuns until this past year when they were received into the Church. I don't know if they would have been invited or attended an IRL meeting in 2007. However, I would encourage anyone to give them a call. I don't personally know them but several friends and family members have gone on retreat at their house in Catonsville throughout the years. They are very hospitable.

Where is Gemma?!

Gemma, don't you have a habit group? Can you post the picture there? I am sure SOMEONE will recognize it. Maybe our beloved George!?

Hey all!

Taking TradMom's lead, I posted the picture to Gemma's habit group yesterday. :detective: This morning I checked my e-mail and happily saw that Gemma sent a reply in to the habit group -- here is her response:

At first glance, and seeing as the pic belongs to the IRL, I would say that it is an old pic of the Dominican Srs of Justice, Illinois. They have since adapted the "headband" veil like Nashville.

I have a friend who saw this and recognized them as the Dominican sisters in Justice, IL. She wrote the sisters and Sr. Margaret's answers was:

"Whoever gave you the first answer, they were right. Yes, these are our sisters: Sr. Maksymilia, Sr. Klaudia and Sr. Dolores (starting from the left, closer up) We changed our veils only some 5-6 years ago and before that this is exactly what we looked like."

Those veils are beautiful, although I think the new ones are nice too, like the Nashville Dominicans.
