When I started learning how to skate I sorta had to choose between hockey skates, or figure skates. I chose hockey skates because I wanna play hockey and I can't see myself doing those jump in the air and spin around things
I went ice skating for the first time yesterday and I was faced with this same dilemma. I figured I'd be more likely to retain my hetero card with "hockey" skates, though. Good call there.

The last few minutes & OT of that USA Canada game was i n t e n s e.

Personally I'm a fan of playing hockey in figure skates. Or watching my little bro try to figure skate in hockey skates.

Boy I don't know how you do those jumps and spins without a toe pick! But here's a video off figure skating in hockey gear.

What's that one movie about the Olympic hockey player who gets injured and then is partnered in a skating duet, and the partner keeps telling him "toe peeeeek"?

Oh yeah, "Cutting Edge".

That's happened twice in the NHL. Both times to goalies. Once the carotid, and once to the jugular. Both very bad, but the players ended up perfectly all right.
Absolutely gruesome to watch. Turns my stomach seeing it.

Clint Malarchuk was the worst ever. 2 spectators had heart attacks and 3 of his teammates vomited at that game.

From Wikipedia:
Malarchuk, meanwhile, believed he was going to die. "All I wanted to do was get off the ice", said Malarchuk. "My mother was watching the game on TV, and I didn't want her to see me die."[4] Aware that his mother had been watching the game on TV, he had an equipment manager call and tell her he loved her. Then he asked for a priest.[5]
Congrats to the young americans who have conquered Canada's dynasty of junior hockey!

Canada will be back next year though, with a little help from Didacus.corp that is...

I wear figure skates, so I gues that makes me a figure skater. However, does one need to be able to move around the rink to be counted as a skater? If so, then I'm out!

oh, I enjoy watching hockey, but I sure don't understand it.

Really? It seems so simple to me, having grown up with it. :P Football on the other hand, I find pretty confusing.

Ash Wednesday

I completely stopped following football since moving overseas. It was so bad, that when the Seahawks fired Mora, and I didn't even know he was the coach in the first place. Growing up with a football family full of boys I would have normally known everything about them. I guess the football I knew from the past and the overall general interest was from osmosis, not choice.

My interest in football peaked when the Seahawks got into the Super Bowl or whatever big important game that was. Now it's all complaining about Matt Hasselbeck's injuries and coaches I've never heard of.
