Nihil Obstat
I prefer to use the term Cradle Catholic to refer to people born into the faith, with no further connotations. I use Cultural Catholic as the most polite way to refer to a cradle Catholic who doesn't practice, or practices poorly.

xJessicaIsHisx
I was baptised as a baby, went to Catholic school my entire life, and church when I was really young... but we were never religious at all for most of my childhood. I always considered myself Catholic though.

[/quote] As a convert I agree with you 100% and am surprised at the number of cradle Catholics who tell me that they always are interested in hearing conversion stories, or think that converts are so admirable, because "they didn't have a choice." My response is usually something like "You have a choice just like anyone else..." but they don't always see it that way.

Ora et Labora
I'm a CC. And it's the best thing that's ever happened to me. I didn't see that until I was 16 or 17. I don't know what I'd do without my Faith! ! I know a lot of kids my age though, who are converts and all the stronger for it. Most teenage CC's do it out of habit it seems! Jesus_lol
quick question for the cradle catholics here. do you think if you werent born catholic, would you have found your way to the catholic faith by now? or would it have taken longer, or possibly not happened at all? (cause you werent exposed in the same way)
Ora et Labora
i honestly have NOOO clue!!! because i was raised in a very catholic home...so...i can't envision any other life. i think i personally would have. you know that saying ignorance is bliss?? i don't know what that feels like because i have this gift/curse of seeing everything so deeply. i see everything in this world for what it really is and how it is unhealthy. every single time i go to confession the priests are always amazed at how thorough i am! haha! ! which means i'm always culpuble for what i do...but i'd rather SEE things in this world then not understand what's going on, or how lust, greed, pride ect. can effect you so deeply. so long story short, i think i would have found Catholicism.
