AccountDeleted
From Australia where we have already had NYE and NY Day, and evening Mass for the Octave (and Solemnity of Mary), prayers and blessings for a holy and happy 2010! Now the only problem to decide whether this Sunday is Epiphany (Novus Ordo) or the Holy Name of Jesus (TLM) -- life is full of such tough problems, isn't it??
Yes, the circumcision was the first time Our Lord shed His precious blood for us! Mass tonight was such a sweet reminder of His whole life being a sacrifice for us. And during the homily the priest reminded us to celebrate not just that it is now the year 2010, but that it is the Year of Our Lord 2010! Blessings for this two thousand and tenth year of Our Savior, Our Lord and Our God!
Ah, thank you for clarifying that for me. It is already hard enough for me to keep track of the OF and the EF calendars (I attend a Latin Mass but my breviary is the UK version in English) so I am glad that I don't have to think about Byzantine as well! One day I may commit to the Latin breviary (just to be in synch with the Mass), but I am not ready for that yet because I learned the Office in English in Carmel, and I just love it so much! So I recited the Office according to the diocesan Ordo but celebrate the feasts of the TLM at Mass!

dominicansoul
what did you guys do last night to celebrate the New Year? I was at a friends house, and her son and some friends tried to blow up a pumpkin with bottle rockets, lighter fluid and black jacks... when that didn't work, they just batted around tennis balls they lit on fire... something about New Years seems to bring out the pyromania... or maybe it was the gorgeous "blue moon?" HAPPY NEW YEAR!
