ThePenciledOne
Absolutely! Just look at that cake mix mess in 2005 where some Danish newspaper posted cartoons of Mohammed and Islam. I bought this up because apparently some Muslim people broke into his house yesterday and tried to attack him or something. That artist got death threats. Or when the Pope quoted someone from centuries ago saying that Islam bought nothing new, just violence to humanity. And then there were images of Muslims with signs saying "Kill those who say Islam is violent!!" How many Catholic jokes are we privy to? How many crass movies and dirty cartoons do we see? A lot. How many of us Catholics load up our shot guns and go on a rampage because someone tells a dodgy priest joke? If people had a sense of humour, if people just laughed, if people just allowed freedom of speech and didn't get so sensitive to things, the world would be a nicer place. I spend a lot of time on American based forums simply because there aren't a lot of local ones for me to bellyache or annoy upon. I've come to notice that Americans in particular, are quite sensitive. You decide what and who hurts your feelings or what annoys you or what makes you so mad you go flammin' up a storm! What society really needs to do first is get rid of this politically correct BS. Seriously, they've done studies on it, if you have at least ten good "belly laughs" a day, you live on average, 7 years longer. Its good for your heart and circulation and your brain releases all manner of "happy hormones", it lowers stress of yourself and those around you. And really, patients in hospital who have a good laugh, they get better faster. Of course, "Whoever said laughter is the best medicine obviously didn't have sphyillis"
To respond to the first part in bold, I do have a sense of humor and I do laugh quiet often thank you, but if you are to make light of a situation and boil down the problem thats not solving anything except maybe the problem of wrapping your mind around it. A few weeks back I wrote a blog on how society has decided to dilute things, and by 'things' I mean serious issues and if we cannot wake up out of our hysterical laughter then we may not wake up at all. Not to be profound or the doom crier hear, but people wonder why the world is blowing itself up and why humanitiy keeps shooting itself in the foot, but it is the mentality of dissolution that we have created. As far as your second statement goes you need to get out more. If you are just plain sick of being politically wrong then you need to grow up and smell the flowers. You are asking for an amount of Tolerance that simply the world is not ready to give and we as Catholics should not ask for to begin with. And when I say Tolerance, I mean the sort of Tolerance where it is impolite to offend or step on someone's toes at all no matter the topic. Just something to think about.
