Guest Faithful Catholic
I have read many Saints wore what is termed a "hairshirt". The first one who comes to mind is St. Maximillian Kolbe. In any event, I was wondering if it were possible to possess one for penance purposes. Does anyone know where it is possible to find one? Thank you and God bless! BLAZEr
Before you do any spiritual disciplines, like a hair shirt, you should consult a priest. If you are ready to do heavy penances, then you are ready for a spiritual director. I would not proceed with any big penances until I had a regular spiritual director who could advice you. On that note, a hair shirt can be many different things. Some are just plain burlap. Others are made out of horse hair which is coarse and very uncomfortable, but not as much as burlap IMHO.
