Once I'm confident that it won't snow again, I'll attempt to replace the struts and the exhaust. (That way, I'll have my trusty 350Z as backup in case I have to leave the car in 100 pieces!) I'll probably need more tools, though.
I overhauled a VW engine in my living room years ago. It was a great way to spend the winter. princessgianna
Luckily I was at work and was not present to hear EE's cries of pity seeing his laptop apart and wounded. My computer had a one year warranty but it's about 2 years old or so.
Mine is still under warranty. I'm probably also going to buy the 3 year extended warranty, just because repairs can be so expensive and it covers them all. It's not unheard of, though, for Apple to replace parts on computers out of warranty. They can be kind.

Almost any part that would need to be replaced would cost half the price of the computer itself, in addition to labor costs if you go through an authorized service provider (like I would have to do.) Would you be able to do the same or something very similar with an Apple? I have an HP and I was basically able to totally dissemble the computer, replace a part, put it back together, and it works just like when I bought it with no prior experience of computer hardware repair. jeffpugh
Apple doesn't want you to open it at all. Warranty is void. I know cause my brother takes tech support calls and I've friends who worked in the same job. As for my laptop, there is a sticker saying "warranty void if removed", but it's been broken before and the HQ still took my lappy in for a fan replacement. ETA: for many PCs, they put the stickers as a deterrent from noobs trying to open it up. Edited December 24, 2009 by Sacred Music Man
Yeah. The way they're built, I wouldn't want to do it myself. It's do-able but it's a lot of work. Everything fits together so well that if you mess one thing up, you're going to have to take it in anyway.
