Brother Adam
I just spoke to a deacon tonight whose book is fully readable on Google and is not getting paid any royalties for it.
Libraries pay a fee into the government. Don't know what they base it on. I know that the library here charges a yearly library card fee, except to the low income.
I let her answer first, Cmother. In other words, many taxpayers who have never read and who never will read the author's book are paying the author. Do you perceive that as just? ~Sternhauser Edited December 20, 2009 by Sternhauser
We don't pay for library cards here, our libraries are free to everyone. As far as I know authors do not get paid here either, except when their book is first sold by the publisher. Sternie - Our libraries here, the Carnegies, are funded locally by a special 1% tax [RAD]that supports our libraries, parks, zoo, aquariums, symphonies etc. I have never met ANYONE grumble about that particular tax, because culture benefits us all. http://www.radworkshere.org/interior.php?pageID=

Jack it to 20% and see what happens. Just because you hit me with a small rock doesn't mean it's justified by it being "a lesson in mineral density." The end does not justify the means. ~Sternhauser Edited December 20, 2009 by Sternhauser
