Being Judgemental

Granted I'm only a newbie, but I've seen some threads in my short time here that have accused some (myself included) of judging others and I have been thinking about this issue a lot.

I guess in my mind there is a huge difference in judging someone (which is always wrong) and judging someones actions which is what I think most good people do.

An example of judging someone is to say, "Such and Such is a (enter derrogatory noun of choice here)." But in my mind it is acceptible to say that "I think what So and So did was really (enter adjective here)."

When we see someone, or sometimes hear of someone, who has done something sinful, of course we should not judge them becuase only God knows what is in their heart and it is up to Him alone to judge. But if we don't judge their actions, how are we to develope a moral conscience. Don't we have to judge right from wrong in order to lead ourselves and others to a holier life? I truely think this is what most of the people on phatmass do. If not, then just about everyone who has posted on a thread about John Kerry is guilty of the un-Christian "judging someone."

I guess what I'm trying to say is before anyone accuses someone else of judging another they should think about if they are judging the person or the act.

Will someone please let me know if I am making any sense or if I am way out of line!!! :(

Makes perfect sense to me. :) You're right about saying that the ACTION is wrong and not saying that PERSON is damned/doomed/etc. Sometimes we slip up or are just completely misunderstood. Its always nice to have a reminder. I think it makes us more cautious. :)
