Brother Adam
So this came out today and we picked it up. Now I'm really confused. You can tell they are trying to fit in more than they have time to in the movie and there is a lot missing. What happen to Draco's father that he is so angry with Harry? Why is Snape a bad guy now? He keeps going back and forth and now he kills dumbledore... The whole movie felt rushed and almost plotless. You basically learn about horcruxes in this movie and they kill the headmaster. Selah
I stopped liking the movies after the third one. The new Dumbledore is a horrible actor. (Yes, I am aware the old one died, but they could have at least explained to the new one that Dumbledore is soft spoken, stern, and wise. Not loud, hopeless and shallow: "When we sleep we enter a world all our own. Let him soar the highest blah blah blah." He lacks the wonder and mystery of the older one. I dunno.) Nihil Obstat
Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I like the atmosphere the movies create, starting in the third installment, and I think the new Dumbledore did a pretty good job of working with that. I don't think I'd really get it all if I hadn't read the books though.
Brother Adam
Would someone answer my questions And why is Snape the "Half blood prince"? They never seem to explain what that means and its the title of the movie.
Selah
Oh I dunno. I haven't read the book yet. He is a death eater...was a death eater. Maybe that somehow ties into...stuff.
What happen to Draco's father that he is so angry with Harry?
He's a stuck up hater? Well, that, and Harry freed his servant, a house elf named Dobby. That really angered him. And to top it off, Dobby attacked Lucius afterwords. Plus, he used to be a minion for...well, You-Know-Who.
Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I like the atmosphere the movies create, starting in the third installment, and I think the new Dumbledore did a pretty good job of working with that
To each their own. I just find him to be out of character. Buckbeak was cool, though Beaky is always cool
Laudate_Dominum
Harry Potter is dark-sided. I'm shocked and appalled.
CatherineM
Snape is the Half-Blood Prince because that is kind of his internal name for himself. The side he couldn't show to others. His father was not a wizard, but his mother was a witch, hence half-blood, not something to broadcast around since he was in Slytherin, and his mom's maiden name was Prince. His father was quite abusive, and since he took after his mom, it was natural that he lean towards his mom. Snape's character is written so that you won't know until the end whether he was really on Voldemort's side or Dumbledore's. So at times it seems like he wavers back and forth. Think about a cop who spends a long time undercover, same kind of thing. The line can seem blurred at times. It is so hard to compress these books into movies. I'm glad they are breaking the last one into two parts. As to Dumbledore's character, I think I'm prejudiced against the first actor because he hated the part. He only took it because he wanted to bank some extra money for his kids because he knew he was dying.

Draco's dad is angry at Harry because Harry helped outt him in the last movie and now everyone is positive her works for Voldermort. Now he can no longer feing ignorance and hide who he truely is. Also everythin that has happened since the 2nd movie between him and Harry adds up. 2. Snape was a spy for Voldermort. He was working for Voldermort and killed Dumbledore becuase he works for Voldermort and he mad the unbreakable vow. If he had not killed Dumbledore, he would have died right there. This movie, like the book was a love story with some set up for the final movie.

Things like people in love stories who can't really stand each other (Officer and a Gentleman comes to mind) or actors who have never used a drug in their lives playing an addict. I'd like to think that Mr. Harris may not have liked Dumbledore, but the character infused him because he was written so three dimensionally by the author. Brother Adam
I realized I asked the wrong question - Why is Draco mad at Harry Potter over his father... He said "this is for my father" and kicked him in the head. Why? What did Harry do to his father?

Draco's father - as one of the newspaper articles that flashed on the screen showed - has been placed in Azkaban prison. 2. Snape has been a "bad" guy all through the stories up to this point. 3. The final story reveals why Snape has acted as he has up to this point. Edited December 10, 2009 by Apotheoun
