Cop Can’T Handle 10-Year-Old Girl, Resorts To Taser

One thing to keep in mind..... and I'm not sure how valid a concern it is, but you never know:

If a cop gets to the point where they have to physically make someone do or not do something, they can either shoot them, taser them, or use their hands and physically restrain them. Obviously tasering is very painful, but in the vast, vast majority of cases, it's temporary pain with no further consequences. Physically restraining someone, on the other hand, could involve doing things that could lead to consequences like broken bones.

I'm going to neither excuse nor condemn the police officer, not having seen the situation.

Tasering could also stop the heart, and kill a man, like it did to a Polish(?) guy here in an airport a few years ago. He was angry, speaking his language. Had no weapons or anything, and they came in and tasered this grown man and he suffered a heart attack. Kids are resilient, but you can still stop their heart. Now, somehow I believe that the cop probably thought that was safer than touching the kid due to the mysandric eye society has today. That is, they'd probably rack him up with sexual abuse charges or something. they can't take a chance, so do something outlandish like resort to a strong level of force before exhausting the other options.

Both of these kinda get at what I was trying to get at, albeit more eloquently.

I doth proclaim the media don't give two fluffy air extractions about truth so I am wary of this article, which contains editorial structures.

Tasers have done that, but the studies done have shown that in every single taser fatality, what happened was that the taser complicated a pre-existing condition..... which most kids don't have.

Of course the level of pain involved in using a Taser is enormous (and obviously there's always some danger, as there is some danger in physically confronting someone). I don't know if he overreacted or not, but it sounds like he probably did.

has anyone here on phatmass actually been tasered? I am curious as to how painful it really is...

I haven't, but hopefully in the next year my mom will have been. ;) If she gets into basic police training they will taser her so that she knows what it's like, and I'll tell you then.

I've heard it's really agonizing, and made worse by the fact that it's literally impossible to control your muscles while it's happening, but also that the pain fades almost instantly when they stop the charge.
