theculturewarrior
got any more prayer links?
I highly recommend Scepter Pubs, "Handbook of Prayers," by Fr. Socias. It is an Opus Dei publication, but regardless of what you may think of Opus Dei, Fr. Socias is a man of God, and he knows how to whip up an excellent prayer book. I also have his "Daily Roman Missal," and use it alot. Both have a section on prayers after mass, (which include the above litany), that are simply awesome! theculturewarrior
That litany is amazing. I just posted it on my website. Thanks so much for that.
Remember, all, that it is not one of the litanies that has been sanctioned for liturgical purposes, such as the Loretto, Holy Name, and Sacred Heard Litanies. Fewer people are aware of the Litany of the Holy Name. It too is awesome. Edited April 7, 2004 by theculturewarrior
DojoGrant
Well, since my website isn't a Church (just a blog), I think it'll be okay. I've prayed the Litany of the Holy Name before. It is great, I agree. I'm just big humility.

Seriously, if anyone thinks that they are a fringe group in The Church, take a look at what they believe. They are so down the center of Church teaching it's incredible. Great place to look up works of the founder of Opus Dei: http://www.escrivaworks.org The Way is a wonderful book to meditate on.
Not every Catholic agrees with that statement, some have some really serious problems with OD, and they were mostly MEMBERS of OD.
Beyond the Threshold traces Tapia's journey from her first attraction to Opus Dei while working at the Council of Scientific Research in Madrid, Spain, to her virtual imprisonment at the. organization's headquarters in Rome in 1965- 1966, a nightmare that culminated in her forced request for release from her obligations to "The Work." Tapia served for almost five years as personal secretary to the founder of Opus Dei, Msgr. José María Escrivá, and for nine years as regional director of the Women's Branch of Venezuela. The view we get of Opus Dei in this account is that of a full member who served in the internal administration of the organization. It is the view, furthermore, of a disillusioned former member who stresses the sect-like characteristics of an institution she has come to view as a "church within the Church." One needs to be aware, that the bestseller book, by Brown, showed a side of OD that up till now, has never been seen, and one needs perspective on all things...all things. http://www.odan.org/
I challenge you to find *one* thing that all 'Catholics' agree with. Now if we would eliminate it to good Catholics, then we might have a chance . . . I looked at that website and I think it's rather inaccurate:
In Catholic Sects: Opus Dei, Alberto Moncada says, "Members are practically forbidden to read anything but specialized professional literature without the superiors' permission, and even professional matters are ideologically tinted. Recently a numerary who had to read the Communist Manifesto because of his studies, was provided with an expurgated version. The organization's Index of Forbidden Books is longer than the Church's abolished version."
This is downright wrong. They are encouraged to read. Granted, what they are encouraged to read is predominantly spiritual reading, but did you expect something else from a religious group? The minute that something includes the words 'in Catholic Sects' you know that it's not been put forth from a Catholic perspective. I can't completely refute the website. I don't know how much of it was accurate, but i doubt that there was very much substance to any of the claims. I don't intend to look into it any more, because I personally know some of these guys, and I know them to be incredibly good people. Now, Bruce, go look at what they teach. I've looked at what you found to demonize them, look at what they teach themselves: http://www.opusdei.org/
