My uncle was an ear, nose and throat doctor who trained us from an early age on how to use one. It looks just like one they found in a viking archeological dig.
i have to admit... JimR-OCDS
Ear wax candles are suppose to work well. Don't know and I've pretty much given up hearing. Jim
tinytherese
You can go to the doctor and them clean it all out. I've had it done at one of my check ups before, so have my grandparents. My grandpa was sure hard of hearing and then he heard a heck of a lot better after that.
Yeah, I've had it done like three times. Apparently my ears generate a lot of wax. Once was the school nurse, and she had a fancy machine that piped water into my ears... if someone offers that to you, run away! At the doctor's they tell you to use an over-the-counter softening solution for a few weeks--Debrox is one for example--that you put a few drops of into your ears twice daily. If you're lucky the earwax might just work its way out voluntarily if you do that. Otherwise, you go to the doctor and he uses a syringe with warm water to get it to come out, and some kind of gentle tool to pull out lumps. Sometimes it's frightening how much one has... Or... if you're tired of going to the doctor, you can use the loop end of a bobby pin to get some of it out. Sketchy, but I figure you can't scratch yourself with it since it's rounded... They say though that when you do it at home, you could just push it back to your eardrum, so it's better to go to the doctor or get a very good friend who knows how to do it. (My friend Katheryn said her mom ENJOYS cleaning people's ears, but she's the only one I've ever heard of.)
