Did anybody catch the season premiere? I thought it was totally awesome! It kinda reminded me of an amalgamation of Independence Day, LOST and 24 with the philosophical underpinnings of 1984 and modern political discourse. Heck there was even a priest or 2!

AND Elizabeth Mitchell, the woman who play Juliet in LOST, is one of the stars...and she freakin' rocks!

Anybody else think so?

It was alright, and I plan on continuing to watch the next few episodes before I pass judgement.

My one problem is that, for a sci fi series, they've tipped their entire hand in the pilot. I'm just not sure how much room will be left for intrigue, which is the bread and butter of sci fi. Think: LOST -- nobody is really even sure who's on what sides anymore, let alone what side is the one that we're supposed to be cheering for. And there's so much intrigue. But in the pilot for this show, I felt like the entire show was laid out already -- we've got to stop the V's.

As far as the Church ... I don't think that the Vatican would respond the way that they were portrayed in the show: instantly embrace these aliens as "children of God". I think the Vatican would respond to aliens that just showed up on our doorstep the same way that they respond to reports of miracles: with hesitant caution. The way that the young priest responded.

As far as actors go: it's cool to see some of the Firefly actors get back into TV. Morena Baccarin, Alan Tudyk. I can't remember: is Gina Torres in "V", too? There were a bunch of Firefly actors in Halo 3 ODST, too. Which was pretty awesome.

Gina Torres has been in a few episodes of FlashForward.

Ah. That's what I'm getting her confused with. I knew that I had seen her recently.

Not quite sure about that. I mean, anyone familiar with the plot of the original miniseries would know how the whole thing plays out. But the creators of the show have stated that, while they will certainly pay due respect to the original work, they are not "recreating" it. Instead, they say that this is going to be a "re-imagining" of it. So it could be that things play out differently, with the "Visitors" being depicted as not-entirely-nefarious creatures, whose motives are not as simple and cut-and-dry as the pilot might suggest.

Or you're right and it will be pretty much what you'd expect.

But it's a remake of the 1980s series right? So we already know what's up for the most part.

Anyhow, I shrug my shoulders at these re-makes. Everything that was cool is somehow being redone and recycled to death. I'm gonna puke if I find out that they are gonna re-do The A-Team. But it's probably inevitable. It'll probably be some guys going awol from Iraq or something. egh. <_<

I don't think that's a legitimate reason to dismiss a tv show

You can't wait to see them remake The A-Team. Starring Vanilla Ice as Mr. T.
