Good question.

I would guess that the Catholic Church is so "different" and many consider aspects of your faith to border on "cultish", the closest parallel to apologetics AGAINST, is that done in Mormon advocacy. I'm NOT saying you ARE a cult, just that without understanding it SEEMS so different, and there are so many of you, that many Protestants want to save family, friends and others, from the "Papists" and that is why they TRY to decipher your impentrable verbiage, and imagary and such.

And when those Apparitions start showing up, and film clips of Catholics standing in line to see, THIS are shown... it puts Protestants over the top, they assume this is what ALL Catholics are like, I know you are not, but you have to admit, your faithful sign on to some WEIRD stuff and get carried away.

And this sort of thing is not an isolated event, every city has it's goofy Catholic image story, and they are NOT disrespectul, and they TRY to cover it as a faith thing, but Protestants see this ... and say ... THAT is what we are not.

NOTICE the people KNEELING IN WORSHIP BEFORE a plate glass window...fogged window and they are lighting candles....

How many times do we have to tell you that Catholics DO NOT worship Mary? Regardless of whether the image in the picture is legit or not, the people you see in the picture are NOT worshiping the image or Mary. Who are you to think you can tell when someone is worshiping something just because they're kneeling? By that same logic, you could accuse someone of worshiping their bed just because they kneel before it in prayer before going to bed!

The thing is, the EOC is MORE different from Protestantism than Catholicism (things like the filoque, liturgy in the vernacular, and the overall liturgy are much more simlar in Protestants & Catholics then Protestants & Eastern Orthodox). I guess like someone said, Catholicism is bigger and thus more visible.

Brother Adam, very few Baptists are GARB (General Association of Regular Baptists) baptists... I don't think most Baptists feel the way you state. They just think the other Protestant denominations are misled because they support infant baptism, etc... (At least that is my experience.)

GARB is pretty extreme.
