I Am The Infantry, Follow Me!

Hello guys!

I made it! I am now an U.S. Army Infantry Soldier!

I graduated yesterday down at Ft. Benning, GA with a class consisting of 219 Infantrymen. It was a beautiful day, and my family was in attendance to take pictures and video of the ceremony. I'll be posting them soon. It was 14 weeks of very interesting experiences to say the least, both good and bad. I'm now at home in Virginia for 30 days on convalescent leave due to stress fractures in the shins and trochanteric bursitis (in the hip). If I heal up by the time I report back to Ft. Benning on December 5th, I'll be going to Airborne School on January 11th, 2010.

It's going to take a little bit for me to catch up on everything, since I've only had internet access TWICE during my duration down in Ft. Benning. How's everyone doing? Anything big happening here on PM that I missed? If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Love ya guys.

Thank God you picked infantry instead of armor. Glad to see you made it and are convalescing. While on leave, pop your head in over at the local VFW. The guys will definitely set you up with free drinks.

Everything's about the same here. Make sure you check out the pregnancy and marriage threads. There's a new one around here practically every week. Catholics, what are you gonna do?

I ask this out of ignorance, but what's wrong with armor? Speaking of which, Ft. Benning will be training all Armor soon (1 1/2 years away). They're transfering the school up in Ft. Knox, Kentucky down to Ft. Benning. So they'll be training both Infantry and Armor here on the same grounds. They're building all brand new barracks and training facilities for the Armor that will be moving in, pretty outstanding sight too.

Congrats on your graduation. We're proud of you! I know how difficult everything you've gone through (and what is yet to come) has been. If you're not healed up in time for Airborne maybe you can go to Ranger first and hit up Airborne later. Airborne is only 3 weeks long so it's not too bad, but it will really, really impress the officers in your battalion/company if you have your Ranger tab. That little patch can take you a long way in your infantry career. If you end up with 3ID I know a Lt. who would be happy to have you in his platoon. ;)

I dropped my Ranger contract, just have Airborne right now. I'm glad I did, that way I can be stationed at Ft. Bragg with the 82nd Airborne. I'll only be 2 hours away from home. :)

I'm glad he wasn't in armor because that meant he wasn't at Ft. Hood. I can be dense at times.
[/quote]

oooooo....I thought you had an issue with the armored division. I didn't make the Ft. Hood connection.
