Marie-Therese
I needed to share this testimony of God's grace with all of you. Yesterday (Tuesday) I accompanied my daughter to a class field trip to a science museum about 2 and a half hours away from home. I need to go back, though, to the weekend and start with my work schedule. I now work Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, 7 pm to 7 am. I worked this weekend, and then drove from work (in Georgia) back to home (in Alabama) Monday evening. I slept about 2 hours over that night and then got up about 5:30 am Tuesday morning to get my daughter to school by 6:30 to board the bus. I followed the bus with my car. Having had very little sleep, I was quite exhausted but figured I was fine. The day was rainy and overcast and somewhat foggy. On the return trip home, following behind one of the buses, the exhaustion overcame me, and I nodded off. I had no idea I had nodded off. The police later told my mother that one of the drivers saw my head slumped over. From the police report, after nodding off, I crossed the center line and struck the rear wheel of a tractor trailer. At this point my air bag deployed. My car then spun and struck another, oncoming tractor trailer. Had I not struck the first tractor trailer, then police say I would have hit the second one head on. The car is completely destroyed. EMTs had to use the jaws of life to cut me out of the car. Several motorists stopped and tried to provide assistance. A friend of mine, whose child was also on the field trip, was right behind me and stopped to be with me when the accident happened. Nearly every person who came up said they had not expected to find a living person in the car. One man wept when he saw me and yelled, "Girl, you had the blood of Jesus! The angels were surrounding this car!" When I am able to, I will upload a picture of what is left of my car. Once the car was cut open, I was assisted to my feet and able to stand. I went to the ER where I had multiple xrays, all of which were negative. I have a cut and severely bruised left elbow (which was crushed by the driver's door), a small nick on my forehead from a glass shard, and two extremely bruised and swollen knees from where the dashboard collapsed into my lap. That's it. I know that words can't adequately portray to you how severe this crash was. All I can say is that I am here to testify to the mercy of God, the zealous protection of my guardian angel, and the love of my Heavenly Mother. I was wearing my Miraculous Medal and brown scapular and I truly believe that these symbols of my love for Our Lady and Her Son, the Saviour of the world, called down protection for me when I should have died. God obviously intends something for me. This is a complicated time for me, that is calling for a lot of soul searching. Why did God spare me? I don't know yet. What is this going to mean to my life? What changes am I going to be called to make? I have no idea yet. I would very much appreciate your prayers in helping me to discern what this all means. Praise God that my daughter decided to ride home on the bus. Thank you all for your prayers.

Arpy
Praise God! I've been in some close scrapes myself of one kind and another, and there's nothing like almost losing your life to make you really thankful. Not that that's how it should be, but still. It's great that you survived.

AccountDeleted
Such a beautiful story of God's mercy and compassion. And a wonderful example of why we need to be ready to be taken home by God at any moment. For the sake of your family, it is wonderful that He didn't call you home just yet. Thank you for sharing this with us all.

Maximilianus
Wow, that is aweful. Thanks be to God you are okay. I went through a similar experience. At the time it was more of a short term shock and inconveniece for me, but in retrospect I realize how fortunate I was that my guardian angel had my six. The circumstances and the outcome make it easier for me to look back and joke about it, but things could have been deadly had I not awoke at the right time. Dominus tecum. Rosemary's Goddaughter
That's a miracle indeed! Falling asleep at the wheel is so dangerous...I got into a crash myself just a few weeks ago doing the same thing, slammed into a concrete barrier at 70 MPH or so. It wasn't nearly as bad (I didn't have to go to the hospital) but it should have been worse. I hope you're doing alright, recuperating from it all! Sojourner
That's amazing ... what a blessing you survived with only a handful of injuries!
Maggyie
God is good! Personally I want to know what year, make and model of car you were driving. God can do all things but He gets an assist from our safety technology!
