Stop what you're doing now and contact your senator! Call the NYS Senate Switchboard at 518.455.2800. They will ask for your zip code and connect you to your senator's office. Tell them to "oppose the governor's abortion agenda!"

Whether it's a stand-alone bill (such as S438: The Reproductive Health Act) or bundled in the Women's Equality Act, the objective is the same. It will enshrine third trimester abortion in New York State law. We're talking about fully formed children in the womb. According to the CDC, New York already has the highest level of induced abortion in the nation. We don't need more abortion in New York State!

This is an extreme abortion agenda. 
Contact family members, friends, co-workers, acquaintances and everyone you know that loves Life! Tell them to call their senator immediately!

Even if your senator is pro-life, it's critically important that they hear from you! Thank them for being pro-life and tell them to "oppose the governor's abortion agenda."

The anodyne-sounding “Reproductive Health Act” is a very bad proposal indeed. Where it regulates, it regulates the wrong parties in the wrong way. But it also deregulates with equal disregard: It would among other things allow persons other than physicians to perform abortions. That is an innovation borrowed from Jerry Brown’s California, where midwives and nurses are permitted to perform abortions. The State of New York will not permit a burly man to lift a box without a state permit to operate a moving company, but gynecological surgery apparently is to be considered a matter for immediate regulatory relief.

Cuomo’s legislation, she said, would make illegal abortion restrictions, such as parental-notification laws, informed-consent laws, restrictions on taxpayer funding of abortion and abortion bans of any kind,” .

The Catholic Conference has a breakdown of what the extreme legislation would do, explaining that it  does not simply “update” New York law or codify Roe vs. Wade. It would usher in extreme and sweeping changes to abortion policy in New York State.

• The bill would permit unlimited late-term abortion on demand. .

• The bill would endanger the lives of women by allowing non-physicians to perform abortions. .

• The bill endangers the religious liberty of Catholic hospitals and other institutions. .

Nowhere does it address the portions of federal laws that limit abortion, such as the ban on taxpayer funding, the ban on partial birth abortion or protections for unborn victims of violence.

 

• Why would abortion after 24 weeks ever be necessary to protect a woman’s health, when delivery or caesarian section are medically safer procedures at that stage?
• Why is the abortion rate in New York State so much higher than the rest of the country?

is it just a mere coincidence that "plan -B" pills have been made available over the counter, without a prescription or parental consent to minors, at the same time that NYS is pushing the legalization of late term abortion ?

Cuomo is calling this maneuver, Plan "B"
Ironically Plan "B" is also the name of an over the counter prescription just released to be sold the children unrestricted and/ or without parental consent or knowledge

I haven't found anything about extending the session through Friday on this. I keep finding articles saying that the bill died.

As the Associated Press first reported and CapTon confirmed this evening, Cuomo will split the women’s agenda into 10 separate pieces of legislation in an effort to get  lawmakers to hold votes on each measure – including a controversial provision to update the state’s abortion laws by codifying Roe v. Wade.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — A series of women's rights bills are expected to get their last chance of passage on the final day of New York's legislative session.

The state Senate is scheduled to take up 10 separate bills Friday. The measures combat discrimination in the work place and in housing and strengthen laws against domestic violence and prostitution.

One controversial measure to strengthen the right to late abortions is being blocked from a vote by Senate Republicans. But democrats  could attempt to force the measure to a floor.

But even if the abortion bill hits the floor, there appears to be too few votes to pass it unless Republicans join in.

The Assembly passed all 10 measures in one bill on Thursday.
