Cloisters In The Latin Rite, In Union With Rome?

Gabriela

Recommended Posts

Are there any? Tridentine Mass, Latin office in Gregorian chant, ideally a devotion to Our Lady...? I know the CRNJ in Charles Town, WV, and I just LOVE them. But I've never seen a women's community that looks anything like them.

Possibly there is already a thread on this somewhere... References much appreciated!

Yeah, the Benedictines of Mary are WONDERFUL. If I thought I had a contemplative cloistered vocation, I'd want to join them.

Also, the Franciscans of the Immaculate have a cloistered branch and they have the TLM often but I don't know if it's every day. And they have the Office in Latin.

More info on the Franciscans of the Immaculate from the Vocations Director:

"We are praying the Tridentine Divinum Ufficium for all the

canonical hours.

The rest of the Institute outside the English speaking countries has been
having daily Tridentine Holy Mass and the Divinum Ufficium since the Motu Proprio came
out in July 2007. We have 50 communities throughout the world and there are
28 communities in the English speaking world. The cost of buying a
Latin-English Breviary is very costly so our sisters in Italy, who have a
printing press, did the layout for it and had it printed at low cost.

I guess the bottom line of our Order is this: our main characteristic is our
Vow of Unlimited Consecration to the Immaculate whereby we go anywhere,
anytime and do anything for the Immaculate.

When our Institute can choose, we choose the Tridentine Rite as a response to Our Holy Father's appeal to
religious Orders in the Motu Proprio, but being missionaries, sometimes we
are not able to choose (like in Africa for example) and we happily
participate in the Novus Ordo, recognizing it as the Ordinary form of the
Latin Rite, and fully valid.

This first video is of our cloistered sisters who made their perpetual
profession as a Pontifical Mass in 2008:

These are photos from a Tridentine Mass celebrated by Cardinal Burke in our
Mother House, Italy:

They're great. :)

Ave Maria!

For the contemplative FSI, they sing the Mass in Gregorian daily, the Mass is always celebrated in the Vetus Ordo, and they sing the Divine Office in Latin according to the seraphic Breviary of 1962. It is the case in the four Houses of Contemplation (Alassio, Cita di Castello, Lanherne and Cebu) by a decision of the "Custoder" (I do'nt remeber the exact name but it sounded like that) of the contemplative houses and of the Mother General of course plus the founders. I have these informations directly from the sisters of Lanherne

And for the apostolic sisters, I totally agree with ToJesusMyHeart :), Latin is increasing, in communion with Rome; in the contemplative convents, the liturgy is particularly beautiful and splendid (I saw pictures of Alassio and Citta di Castello on the blog Missa in latino)... I don't know for the Poor Clares of the Immaculate: I think they have the Latin Mass several times a week but I don't know for the Divine Office... and all these nuns are so GREAT!!!!! (like the Benedictines of Mary; you have also the congregation of Solesmes but the Mass is the Novus Ordo on Latin; very beautiful too, and the Divine Office is sung in Gregorian everyday).

I let the others respond to you Curiosing for other communities! :)

I also know that there is a convent of Redemptoristin nuns in England (I am not sure at all) where the sisters are strictly cloisterd, wear the traditional habit red and blue with the black and white veil, and have the TLM everyday... they have a website with nice pictures and sorry if I say errors!

I could not find a community in England after doing research.  However, I found a traditional Redemptoristine Monastery in Brazil that claims to be the only traditional CsSR monastery left.

Have you been to Mass with them before?

I pray that they get more vocations.
