the171
I am staffing a retreat next weekend and we are using a quote from Pope Benedict. The quote is: "The world offers you comfort, but you were not made for comfort. You were made for greatness." Does anyone know where he said this quote? (like at WYD Aussie, in an encyclical, at an audience, etc) Thanks!
Nihil Obstat
Is this the one you mean? "The ways of the Lord are not comfortable, but we were not created for comfort, but for greatness, for good." First audience as pope with German pilgrims. Nihil Obstat
And I cannot find a link to the original source. Wikiquote says it was in German, but does not provide a link.
the171
No, that is not the droid -- err, quote -- I was looking for.
Nihil Obstat
I have never heard the exact quote you have. But they are similar enough that it could be a paraphrase.
the171
True. I'll tell the retreat director. She thought it was from Aussie.
